GEAR PAGE Pink Floyd anyone? How about Duane's Guild/Binson Echorec....now that's echo, baby!!!! ![]() Here's a shot of Duane's 1973 50 watt Marshall (underneath the Soldano SLO100). It is a crunch machine! Duane's first electric guitar, a Westwood SG copy. This guitar was purchased from a friend at school for $23. It had a tree of life carving in the top and was later discovered to actually have single coil pickups cleverly disguised as humbuckers. This guitar was played through a silverface Fender Champ that was purchased from the same friend for $25. His first guitar was actually a Castilla acoustic of which no photos are available. Duane soon stepped it on up to a Cort copy of a Gibson Sonex played through a Peavey Classic solid state/tube hybrid. The pedal pictured here is a Morley Power/Wah/Boost pedal which was later was joined by an Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi Fuzz and, for a brief time, a Morley Leslie simulator (the one with the box of mystery liquid in it). Duane added a Warmoth Flying V (w/ a whammy bar) to this rig before graduation, of which no photos exist. The photo on the right shows Duane stomping out some wah-wah on the Morley PWB....also of note is Jim Gilmour's 4001 Rickenbacker and Fender Studio Bass amp. Here is a Ramirez classical guitar that Duane had in High School Here Duane was using (or rather demonstrating) a new Kramer played through a Dean Markley amplifier around 1983. All of the gear belonged to Ezra Sound (the music store behind the band). Go eighties!!! Duane rips it up on a Guild S300AD which belonged to fellow Personal Ads bandmate Todd Bellinger. In the mid-eighties, Duane picked up this heavily altered 1964 Gibson SG Special. He later altered it even more by giving it a psychedelic paint job. November of 1986 Duane rocks out some Led Zeppelin on an early eighties Gibson EDS-1275. It had a rather carelessly installed Bigsby tailiece on the 6 string neck when he got it. At this point, still raging through the Peavey Classic amplifier. Duane bought this 1987 Fender American Standard Stratocaster new in it's premiere year. He also bought a wine red 1983 Gibson Les Paul Standard in the same time frame of which no photos exist. The photo on the left from the "Rust" CD Release at The Clear River Tavern shows that he still uses this guitar today. The picture on the far right shows it when it was new and being used at The Silver Club in 1988. Here is the 1972 Guild F-48 which has been with Duane since the mid-eighties. Originally purchased new in 1972 by Duane's brother, it was traded in the early-eighties to a store and bought by Rick Redington who sold it to Duane who had the neck reset and installed a new pickup (which has been replaced twice to date). As a side note of interest, in this photo from Marcia B's Roadhouse, Duane is plugged into a Maestro Echoplex which is behind him (you can just see the gray power cord). Off to the left is a Guild 212XL. Duane got this 12 string in Burlington for a greatly reduced price after it fell off the wall of the store and broke. As a side note of interest, in this photo from Marcia B's Roadhouse, Duane is plugged into a Maestro Echoplex which is behind him (you can just see the gray power cord). Here, Duane is pictured with a 1970 Gibson ES-345. It was purchased from a member of Phoebus (which was the band that Duane ran sound for in High School). It was originally wired for Stereo but has been made mono. The picure with the amps places it in front of an early '90's Soldano SLO 100 and a 1965 Marshall JTM 45 with a block logo. This white Fender Stratocaster was purchased around 1991. It was a short run series by Fender USA to test the market before opening the Mexican factory. Available in black or white, Duane wanted a white Strat a'la Jimi Hendrix. The white Strats had the vintage style truss and the black ones had the modern one. The nicest neck from a black Strat was swapped onto a white one. Soon after, it received a left handed vibrato. The picture of the guitar on the left is how it originally came to Duane and the next picture is how it appeared after the neck was swapped for a 1972 reissue neck, the pickups were replaced with blue Lace Sensors and the pickguard that was melted in the fire was replaced with an aftermarket "snot green" one. In the background is the Marshall JCM 800 50 watt 2205 amplifier Duane used in the early '90's as well as his SRV Stratocaster and his 1987 American Standard Stratocaster. In the picture on the left he is playing through a Soldano SLO 100 amplifier. In the smiley picture, we see a different set of guts as it had a black tortoise pickguard with a humbucker and 2 single coil pickups in the mid-90's. Chiming away on a 1999 Rickenbacker 330 12 string. The amps in the backgrounds of these photos are a 2006 Vox AC30 and a 1974 Fender Deluxe Reverb. Rocking out with a 1990 Gibson Les Paul Standard. As you can see from the pictures on the right, a Bigsby Vibrato has been added. Also on the far right, tucked into the background is a 1965 Fender Princeton Reverb amplifier. Feeding that little amp is a pedal board consisting of a Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster, Robert Keeley 4 Knob Compressor, Vox V847A Wah-Wah, Robert Keeley Modded Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer, Robert Keeley Katana Boost, MXR Custom Shop Phase 90, Danelectro Dan Echo, Boss Tuner, and a Lehle Switcher. Here, Duane performs in the park in Rutland VT on a 1974 Gibson SG Special. Speaking of SG's...here is Duane with a 1974 Gibson SG Standard...and the same tie dye.... Here's a sweet 1998 Guild Bluesbird. Duane does some chicken' pickin' on a FrankenTele made up of Fender parts with a '70's Fender Telecaster neck. This is Duane's baby...a 1963 Fender Stratocaster. As you can see by the pics on the right, it was stripped down when he got it. It was later restored and was featured in Guitar Player Magazine. The studio pic from 1990 documents Duane's live rig at the time which consisted of rack setup plugged into two Silverface Fender Twins. The only thing missing here were the two 2-12 extension cabinets...no...not loud at all. Also in the pic was a borrowed 50 watt Marshall JMP half stack and Duane's 147 Leslie cabinet. Here, Duane pays homage to one of his heroes with a 1991 Fender Stevie Ray Vaughan Signature Stratocaster. Duane tames a 1977 Guild S300AD. Duane's 1967 Gibson SG Junior waiting to be used in the recording of the song "A Girl Like That" Here are two brand new leather straps custom made by Cheryl Crossan at: http://www.cccowgirlcouture.com Very cool VT State/Farmall and Wild Horses straps!!!!!! This is Duane's Wechter Traditional Elite. Here is Duane's 1999 Guild JF55-12....the cannon!!! |
